MannaRelief is a nonprofit organization providing proper nutrition to undernourished children. As little as $0.08 a day provides a child with the nutritional support they need to thrive.
South Africa is commonly known for its high poverty levels and orphaned children who struggle daily with the devastating effects of malnutrition.
Here at MannaRelief, we see opportunity where others see devastation. Thousands of children in South Africa have experienced the benefits of proper nutritional support that we were privileged to provide in the past decade, but our last shipment was unique.
For the first time, we are able to provide children in South Africa with our new vitamin and mineral enriched complex called PhytoBlend powder. This standardized blend is the only nutritional complex based on Real Food Technology® solutions designed specifically to fight childhood malnutrition.
In July 2011, we sent more than 185,000 servings of PhytoBlend powder to 976 children in South Africa. In just a few short months, children have been given the hope that proper nutrition can provide. Caregivers are blown away by the changes they are seeing in their children.
Malnutrition is defined as the condition that develops when the body does not receive the right amount of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients it needs to maintain healthy tissues and organ function. At any given moment, more than 500 million children in the world are affected by malnutrition. Undernutrition contributes to over half of the 9.7 million deaths of children under the age of five each year. We believe that our nutritious PhytoBlend™ powder can be life-changing for these millions of children. In 2010, we began sending PhytoBlend powder around the world to meet the needs of thousands of children. In the years to come, as we continue to send out PhytoBlend powder, we expect the number of children affected by malnutrition to fall drastically.
When we dream at MannaRelief, we dream big. Our dream to see millions of children around the world receive proper nutrition is a huge dream and honestly, we can’t succeed without your help. You may feel that the goal is too big or you may be unsure of how you can help. Don’t worry. There’s a way you can make a huge difference; the spare change sitting on your coffee table can change a child’s life. Just $0.08 a day provides a daily serving of PhytoBlend powder to a child in need.
Together, one child at a time, we will see malnutrition decline as children around the world receive the benefits of daily nutrition!
On Tuesday afternoon, Erick Meier and Bill Whitworth of Convoy of Hope joined us at our headquarters to discuss the progression of PhytoBlend™ powder in El Salvador. They were pleased to inform of us of how well the Caregivers have taken to utilizing our vitamin and mineral complex in meals they prepare for children in their care. They shared a video to show us of their other initiatives and we shared our video, “One Year With PhytoBlend Powder”. In the last year, thanks to our donors, we provided more than 2.1 MILLION servings of nutritional support to 6,000 children in El Salvador.
We also recently began supporting 1,700 children in Honduras and 1,000 children in The Philippines with Convoy of Hope. We’ve already provided nearly 500,000 servings of proper nutrition between the two!
Soon, we’ll receive pictures and stories from the field and we can’t wait to share the impact PhytoBlend powder has already provided in Honduras and The Philippines.

You never know where an opportunity will lead you, so a word of advice: When opportunity knocks, always take time to open the door and introduce yourself. MannaRelief had no idea what was in store when we made a simple follow-up call to a local Texas couple. During a recent outreach, the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Faught, found themselves in the company of the president of the Republic of Burundi in Eastern Africa. Without hesitating, the Faught’s saw a relationship with the president and his wife as a great opportunity.
The president’s schedule would have him in Dallas soon and the Faught’s were asked if they would be willing to set up meetings with reputable organizations in Dallas that may be able to help the growing country of Burundi. They accepted the task and began their search immediately upon their return to Dallas.
Burundi is a small country in Eastern Africa with a history of violence and poverty. However, the country has seen peace for the first time in years since President Pierre Nkurunziza’s election to office in 2005. With peace at hand in the country, the president desires to see his people flourish in health and finances. With the president’s hopes in mind, the Faught’s contacted MannaRelief. According to the World Food Programme, over 56% of the children in Burundi are chronically malnourished. What better organization to meet this need than MannaRelief?
After many hours of planning, visits from the Secret Service and preparation, on September 27th, MannaRelief welcomed the Faught’s and the President and First Lady of Burundi to our facility in Grand Prairie, Texas. Our Founders Sam and Linda Caster joined them and had the opportunity to share the vision of MannaRelief and how PhytoBlend™ powder can meet the nutritional needs of the malnourished children of Burundi.
The opportunity to partner with Burundi and President Pierre Nkurunziza is a divine appointment and we are honored to help tackle malnutrition across their country. As our partnership grows, we need your support to help the children of Burundi. $0.08 a day is all it takes to change the life of a child. Donate today >

Here at MannaRelief, we believe it is impossible to separate our passion from our work. So we were not at all surprised when our videographer, Seth Thorpe, returned from El Salvador with a new love and passion for the children there.
MannaRelief began a partnership with Convoy of Hope El Salvador in January 2011 with a six month supply of PhytoBlend™ powder for 6,000 children. Partnering with Convoy of Hope has been like an ice cream cone in a child’s hand – an absolutely perfect fit. When the time came to ship the second six month supply, we thought it was about time to go visit the El Salvador team that has helped make this partnership work like clockwork. Seth was only in El Salvador for five days, but the incredible team from Convoy of Hope made sure to pack in as much adventures as possible. Every day started bright and early at 7:30am. In just five days, Seth visited seven schools and three feeding programs that receive PhytoBlend powder for their kids. At each location, Seth interviewed the Caregivers who administer serving PhytoBlend powder, documented the preparation of the children’s food and the addition of PhytoBlend powder. Seth wasn’t all work and no play, however. He managed to get in loads of playing time with the beautiful El Salvadorian children. As he jumped around from organization to organization, Seth was continuously surprised by the work Convoy of Hope is accomplishing in El Salvador.
“They have a ground team of four people in El Salvador. The fact that they can organize and facilitate the feeding of 6,000 children effectively, in addition to the other projects they do, is incredibly impressive.”
Another compliment Seth had for the Convoy of Hope team in El Salvador was the obvious relationship the team had with the local community.
“Partnering with Convoy of Hope El Salvador to provide PhytoBlend powder is a recipe for long-term success. It’s an honor to support people that are grateful and understanding of the value of what MannaRelief is providing.”
We want to thank Convoy of Hope for partnering with us. We are excited about continuing our partnership in El Salvador, and we are incredibly thrilled to be extending our collaboration with them to Honduras and The Philippines. This year alone, MannaRelief and Convoy of Hope have provided proper nutrition through PhytoBlend powder for 8,700 children around the world. We are so thankful for our relationship with the Convoy of Hope team and look forward to our future together. And as a reminder to our videographer, Seth Thorpe: No, you may not leave us to live in El Salvador! Who else would create our amazing MannaRelief videos?
